The Easter Bunny lives!

Sad news.

I was closing the blinds Friday evening and saw something strange laying across our sidewalk. Upon closer investigation we realized it was a dead rabbit. He looked like he was in mid jump and then died. My children wanted to see it and kept asking a lot of questions. I told Paul I didn't want them to become desensitized to one of God's creatures dying, so I told him that we should put it in a box and then take it over to the ravine by our house and bury it. We did this and even said a prayer for the cute rabbit. As we were finishing up and saying the last good-byes to the rabbit a runner came jogging by and asked us what we were doing. I told her and she gave me a crazy look. I don't know what she expected us to do with a dead rabbit, I'm not going to just throw it in the trash. Anyway I was feeling good about how we handled the situation and gave the rabbit a good send off. As I was driving home with the family in the van, taking the long route so the runner wouldn't know where we lived, Ryan started to become agitated and worried. I asked him what was wrong and he replied that he was so sad that the Easter Bunny was dead. Poor little guy. We tried to explain to him that the Easter Bunny was fine, but he was still worried. You can imagine his excitement on Easter morning when he realized that the Easter Bunny still came. Phew, the magic of the Easter Bunny lives on!

An interesting side note about the rabbit. The next night there were several rabbits standing vigil at the spot where we found the dead rabbit. I thought it was sad and sweet.

6th Grade Band Concert

Alyssa and the 6th grade band came to the elementary school today to recruit future 6th graders. I was able to get a short clip of the trombones playing.

Spring Break

We drove out to Salt Lake City, Utah for Spring Break. We left late Thursday night, drove to Green River, UT and stayed in a hotel. The next day we drove to Springville and met up with some friends for lunch. Our kids played together while we shopped and ate. We then drove to Saratoga Springs to visit Paul's sister. We had a lot of fun and stayed up way too late talking. We had a big get together on Saturday with extended family. We visited Wheeler farm, the Clark Planetarium, and an indoor carnival called Jungle Jim's. As we were leaving to head back home on Wednesday we decided to take the kids to see Temple Square. We have a lot of great memories of Temple Square and of the beautiful lights there at Christmas time. Paul and I got engaged on December 7, 1994 at Temple Square while on a horse drawn carriage. We were later married in the Salt Lake City temple on May 5, 1995. We all had a great time.

Ryan's song

Ryan told me that he made up a song and then he sang it to me. I thought it was sweet. He is singing "pretty star".
