Okay, so I did it. I painted the fireplace. I primed the whole thing. Then I sponge painted each brick. I think I still want to add a little more dark brown. I wanted to make a mantle and have book shelves on eaither side of it, but I decided that I would feel too guilty spending too much money so I took the cheap way out and painted it. After sponging the bricks I white washed the whole thing. Then I filled the cracks on the inside and painted it all black, with a high heat paint. I do like it better than before, and I still have plans to add a big mantle and book shelves on the sides.

I think it looks nice!
You are brave...I always have ideas and then I'm too chicken to follow through with them.
Looks good! But I think your right. A big mantle and bookshelves would be awsome!
Looks good!!! Love it. I have alot of ideas, but scared out of my mind to do anything.
I REALLY like it. Light colors always have a way of opening up a room. I am in fact missing the opportunity to decorate. I always had some project or other in mind back in Ohio so it's tough living in a house that's not mine. I'm jealous :)
Good job Rach!! It looks terrific!
You are definitely brave! Good job- i'm glad it turned out! I love how some projects change the whole look and feel of a room!
Looks great! I'm impressed you have enough creativity to even think of that. Maybe you should come give my house a make over.
